Mall Call - Yung Singh

YUNG SINGH

Few DJs have travelled from the underground to the world’s biggest dancefloors quite as quickly as Yung Singh. Named DJ Mag’s Breakthrough DJ of the Year in 2021 after a run of viral moments – including a now legendary Boiler Room set – the British-Punjabi DJ has since become a fixture at clubs and festivals from Berghain’s Panorama Bar and Sónar to Glastonbury. The speed of that ascent makes all the sense in the world once you hear him play. Refusing to treat genres as borders, Singh moves freely across the dance music spectrum, pulling in hip-hop and rap while continually reconnecting it all to his Punjabi heritage. That approach has also made him a central figure in the resurgence of British-Punjabi and South Asian club culture. His sets remain gloriously difficult to predict: technically sharp, culturally wide-ranging and driven above all by what makes a room move. After conquering some of the world’s biggest stages, Mall Call brings Yung Singh back to the kind of setting where that unpredictability should thrive.
