“A Latin American heart and a German motor.” Few descriptions capture Sofia Kourtesis’ music quite as perfectly as her own. Born in Peru and shaped by Berlin’s club culture, she makes electronic music where the emotional warmth of her Latin American roots meets the relentless four-on-the-floor pulse of German techno. Her productions are rich with sun-drenched melodies, organic percussion and an almost healing sense of euphoria, yet never lose sight of the dancefloor. Her acclaimed 2023 debut album “Madres” transformed deeply personal experiences of love, grief and family into joyous, life-affirming house music, while 2025’s ” Volver” EP, featuring a collaboration with Daphni, celebrated queer resilience and community. Earlier this year, Kourtesis brought her unmistakable sensibility to the iconic DJ-Kicks series, weaving together ambient textures, Detroit techno, Afro-Peruvian rhythms and euphoric house into a deeply personal musical journey. Guided by her philosophy of “less perfection, more corazón”, her DJ sets are as emotionally charged as they are irresistibly physical.
