Mall Call - Namasenda (DJ set)

NAMASENDA

Sweden has a hyperpop star of its own. Raised in the small Skåne town of Veberöd, Namasenda has spent the past decade developing a pop universe that feels equal parts playful, synthetic and defiantly excessive – an aesthetic she once fittingly described as “hardcore cute”. Her music eventually caught the attention of PC Music, where she began working closely with A. G. Cook, releasing the 2021 mixtape “Unlimited Ammo” before leaving the label two years later. Yet for all that history, this year’s “Limbo” somehow feels like a debut: bigger, more cohesive and unmistakably her own. Released through YEAR0001, the album trades some of PC Music’s hyperreal sound for something more physical, plunging irresistible pop hooks into a mix of trance, Eurodance, rave, and acid basslines, while Namasenda explores love, desire, beauty and the ways we reshape ourselves for other people. Namasenda has described what she wants an audience to feel at her famously high-energy shows in one word: “Euphoria.” Mall Call seems like the perfect place to deliver exactly that.
