Spend enough time in the clubs of Paris and New York and chances are you’ll eventually cross paths with Miley Serious. Splitting her time between the two cities, the French DJ has become a tastemaker whose influence extends far beyond the booth, through her label 99CTS RCRDS, radio shows, zines and parties at Paris institution Rex Club. Before discovering turntables, Miley Serious played bass in hardcore bands, and the energy and DIY ethics of punk have remained fundamental to her ever since. That same disregard for boundaries defines her DJ sets, where bass, breaks, drum’n’bass and harder strains of club music collide in fast, fearless combinations. After almost two decades spent digging through musical history, her philosophy remains refreshingly simple: play the sounds that make her happy and trust the room to follow. This November, Miley Serious brings that punk spirit to the abandoned storefronts and dancefloors of Mall Call.
