Mall Call - Ibibio Sound Machine [Opening Concert]

IBIBIO SOUND MACHINE [OPENING CONCERT] –NOV 28

Ibibio Sound Machine make dance music that refuses to choose between the pulse of a nightclub and the glorious unpredictability of eight musicians playing together. Led by Nigerian-British vocalist Eno Williams and producer Max Grunhard, the London collective have spent over a decade blending West African highlife, funk and disco with electronics and post-punk. Their sound has evolved from the liveliness of their early records through the Hot Chip-produced “Electricity” and the darker, club-oriented “Pull the Rope”. On their sixth album, “Chopping Mountain”, they embrace the spontaneity of live jams, combining earthy highlife rhythms with electronic experimentation. On stage, that interplay becomes something spectacular: intricate percussion, irresistible guitar grooves and Williams’ commanding vocals, delivered in both English and Ibibio, turn their concerts into energetic celebrations of music and movement. With the full eight-piece band in tow, Ibibio Sound Machine will open Mall Call on the 28th by turning the entire venue into one enormous dance floor.
